Useful Information

PE Days:   Children will need to come to school in their PE kit on their allocated PE days.  Our PE kit consists of:

  • White T-shirt
  • Navy/black shorts
  • Navy tracksuit bottoms
  • Navy jumper/hoodie
  • Trainers

During wet weather months please provide the children with a pair of pumps/plimsols for indoor shoes.  This will protect our carpet areas from the mud.

Earrings must be removed and hair tied back.

Reading- Your child will be given a reading book to challenge their current reading level both in paperback and on Bug Club, an online reading site (please use the link for Active Learn below). Children will change their reading book every Friday.  Please listen to your children read as often as possible and ask them questions about what they have read.

Homework- Your child will be set a piece of maths homework on a Friday, to be completed by the following Thursday.  Maths homework is set online on the MyMaths site (please use the link below).

Children will also be sent home with a Spelling Log. Each Monday they will be given a set of spellings to learn which will be glued inside their Spelling Log. These spellings will consist of patterns that the children will have covered in their phonics lessons. Try to spend 5-10 minutes each night practising the words. There are some ideas on how to learn the spellings in the front of the Spelling Log. There will be an informal quiz on the following Monday. We aim for the children to learn their spellings as individual words and then apply the pattern to other words in their writing.

Fruit - The children are provided with fruit at school each day to have at playtime. You are welcome to send your child in with their own fruit or vegetable snack. (Please only send in fruit or vegetables) The children are reminded to eat their fruit in a designated area and not move around whilst they are eating.

Water - We ask that children are sent in with a named water bottle each day. We encourage the children to drink regularly throughout the day.

Coats - We ask that children bring a coat in each day. If it is warm, the coat can be left in the bag or on the peg. We do take the children out to play in light rain, so it is advisable to send a light rain jacket or coat in each day even during the Summer months.
